Cloud imports now support folder imports

Cloud imports through OneDrive, Dropbox and Google Drive now support folder imports. Select a folder and the entire subfolder structure will be recreated in your Img.vision drive, along with importing each image in each folder.

Customers who need to import folders from their Google Drive need to request access to the test program from me first. Dropbox and OneDrive will work out of the box, but will show a warning that the integration is not verified yet (verification can only occur when we have enough customers using it).

A new alternative method to access and import from your Google Drive was added that does not require a test phase, so you can use it without needing to contact me. Google does not allow folder imports through this method though.

Duplicate filenames

Img.vision uses permanent links where the filename is in the image link. The folder you put the image in is not part of the link. So all filenames in your drive need to be unique regardless of what folder they are in. This is different to how Windows and Mac work. This has been creating some confusion for new users so this update now notifies you and/or allows you to make a decision.

When doing folder imports (via cloud import or directly) and if inside that upload batch there are duplicate filenames, a small unique suffix is now added automatically at the end of the filename (before the extension) to force the filename to be unique so every image gets uploaded and nothing is lost. Before this update, those images would silently overwrite each other and an image would be lost.

When uploading (directly or through a cloud import) an image with a filename that is already present in your Img.vision drive, you will be asked what needs to happen: overwrite the existing image, keep both images (by adding a small unique suffix to the filename), or cancel the upload. Before this update the existing images would be silently overwritten.

The setting to always force filenames to be unique when uploading/importing now adds the unique id as a suffix instead of a prefix.

A customer pointed out that they name their images in such a way so that when they are uploaded via flat files to eBay, they are automatically in the right order, that’s why we now add a suffix to filenames instead of a prefix, this prevents the order from breaking.

Other

Dragging and dropping a folder will now initiate a folder upload preserving structure if you have access to that feature (Pro and Pro Max plans). Previously dropping a folder in the media area or onto the upload widget would never preserve the structure, unless you specifically chose the folder upload button in the upload widget.

Security and performance improvements to the upload part of the dashboard.

Fixes

Entering the wrong credentials in the login form now shows a proper error message again.

In rare cases, where you have a temporary network issue right at the moment when you subscribe, your account would not reflect the new subscription. A login/logout used to resolve that, but now the dashboard detects this issue and resolves it automatically.
